Pete and the Pirates were an English indie rock band from Reading, Berkshire, formed by brothers Thomas Sanders and Jonny Sanders, along with Peter Hefferan, David Thorpe, and Peter Cattermoul. The group initially gained attention after playing a few shows around Reading and being picked up by Stolen Recordings. Their debut EP, Get Even, was released in 2005, followed by their first single "Come On Feet" in 2007. The band's debut album, Little Death, produced by Gareth Parton, was released in 2008, and received mixed reviews. Notable tracks from this period include "Mr Understanding", which featured in several TV shows. Their second album, One Thousand Pictures, produced by Brendan Lynch, was released in 2011, and received critical acclaim. The band toured the UK and Europe from September to November 2011, including a headline show at London's Scala and a performance with Kaiser Chiefs at Kirkstall Abbey. Activity slowed in 2012, and later that year it was confirmed that the band had split up, although no official statement was released.
