Troll, a Norwegian symphonic black metal band, was founded in 1992 when Stian Arnesen, known as Nagash, began writing music with Glaurung and Fafnir. The initial steps of Troll's career included the release of demo Trollstorm over Nidingjuv in 1995 and the album Drep de kristne in 1996. After a period of inactivity, Troll reformed as a group in 2000 with Nagash concentrating on guitar and synth. The band released their first albums under this new lineup: The Last Predators (2000) and Universal (2001). In 2010, they released Neo-Satanic Supremacy, which was described as a slice of 90s-style symphonic black metal. The band continued to release music, including the EP Tilbake Til Trollberg in 2020 and the single "To the Shadows" and album Trolldom in 2023.
