Vinson Cole, born on November 21, 1950, in Kansas City, is an American operatic tenor who studied at the University of Missouri‑Kansas City and the Curtis Institute of Music under Margaret Harshaw and established his foundation. He debuted in Europe with Acis and Galatea in Angers and later performed Belmonte with the Welsh National Opera, leading to engagements at the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Opéra National de Paris, and Teatro alla Scala, plus a nine‑year tenure at the Salzburg Festival. He won the Metropolitan Opera Auditions and the WGN Competition in 1977, and has worked with conductors such as Herbert von Karajan and Sir Georg Solti. He teaches at the Curtis Institute of Music and the University of Missouri‑Kansas City.
