Michael Lai

Michael Lai Siu-tin, born on November 8, 1946 in British Hong Kong, was a music composer and record producer. He began his career as a child actor and entered the music scene in the 1970s by joining a band performing in a nightclub. His breakthrough came with the theme song for the 1979 television series Reincarnated, which placed in the top 10 of the RTHK Top 10 Gold Songs Awards. In 1982, Lai joined Capital Artists and produced Leslie Cheung's album Wind Blows On. He also composed songs for Anita Mui, including "Fiery Tango" from her 1987 platinum-selling album. Throughout his career, he was credited with 30 original musical scores for Hong Kong films and 700 original songs. Lai passed away on December 1, 2019, due to lung cancer.
