Ararat was a German Christian pop and rock band formed in 1979 in Bad Urach. The group emerged from the Oase youth outreach program and became one of the most prominent acts in the German Christian music scene. The band’s history was significantly impacted by the death of founding singer and guitarist Christian Stäbler in a 1994 traffic accident. Following a period of uncertainty, the ensemble resumed activity with new lead vocalist Bianca Poppke in 1995. Their discography includes the studio albums Wenn nicht jetzt…wann dann!?, Volxmusik, and Himmelwärts. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, the group toured extensively across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. They released the album Gold in 2006 and their final studio project, 32, in 2011. The band concluded its career with performances at the German Evangelical Church Congress in Dresden before holding a farewell concert on November 25, 2011, in their hometown of Bad Urach, after which the band officially disbanded.
