D Generation is an American glam punk ensemble from New York City established in 1991. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style that blurred lines between punk rock, glam rock, and garage rock. The ensemble was founded by the vocalist Jesse Malin, the guitarist Danny Sage, the bassist John Carco, the guitarist Howie Pyro, and the drummer Michael Wildwood. D Generation achieved professional recognition for signing with the label Chrysalis Records and releasing the debut eponymous studio recording D Generation (1994). Despite a favorable reception, promotional support was removed following the appointment of a new executive. The ensemble achieved professional recognition for signing with the label Columbia Records in 1995 and releasing the studio recording No Lunch (1996) produced by the musician Ric Ocasek. They achieved professional recognition for performing as a support act for the ensemble Social Distortion, the ensemble Ramones, and the ensemble Kiss. Their recording career included the studio recording Through the Darkness (1999) produced by the musician Tony Visconti and the single "Helpless" (1998) appearing on the soundtrack for the movie The Faculty. The ensemble became inactive in 1999 following a final performance at the venue Coney Island High. They achieved professional recognition for resuming activity in 2011 and releasing the studio recording Nothing Is Anywhere (2016). Pyro died in 2022.
