Richard Bishop, from Phoenix, Arizona, United States, is an American composer, guitarist, and singer whose musical career began in 1979. He began his musical journey as part of the experimental rock band Sun City Girls with his brother Alan Bishop. In 2005, Richard Bishop started performing solo, touring extensively across Europe, Australia, and the United States. His first official solo record, Salvador Kali (1998), was released by Revenant Records. Subsequent releases include Improvika (2004), Fingering the Devil (2006), and While My Guitar Violently Bleeds (2007). Bishop has collaborated with notable artists such as Will Oldham and Animal Collective. In 2015, he released Tangier Sessions under Drag City.
