Akanoid is a German electronic music duo from Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, founded in 1999 by Hilton Theissen and Uwe Lübbers. Signed to Insolation/Zoomia, Akanoid became part of the international psychedelic-trance scene, releasing three singles, two albums, and a "best of" compilation between 2000 and 2004, including the album Best Off (2000). The band's shift towards song-oriented structures with more guitar elements led to the album Cocktail Pop (2007), released under Echozone. Akanoid toured, including as an opening act for De/Vision in 2007 and with the Crüxshadows in 2008. Their later albums Civil Demon (2009) and NOI (2015), along with EPs like EVO (2011), showcased their evolving sound, blending electronic music with alternative rock elements. Other notable releases include the albums Metamorphin (2002) and Plastic Tales (2020), and the EPs 100 Burning Guitars (2008) and Substance (2016).
