Sharrie Williams is an American blues, soul, gospel singer-songwriter. She began singing at age six in her church choir and, by twelve, toured and recorded with the Greater Williams Temple church choir under Hubert J. Williams, performing alongside Shirley Caesar, The Winans, Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, and Reverend James Cleveland. In 1996, she began singing with the house band at the Saginaw club Wise Guys, which quickly evolved into Sharrie Williams & The Wiseguys. Williams released her debut album, Live (2001) on her Faith Records label, earning a Detroit Music Awards nomination for Best Blues Album. She followed with Hard Drivin’ Woman (2004), Live at Bay-Car Blues Festival (2007), I’m Here To Stay (2007), and Out of The Dark (201), which won the Académie du Jazz Blues Album of the Year Award. Williams has also collaborated with artists including Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Ruth Brown, and Dizzy Gillespie.
