The Pearlfishers are a Glasgow-based rock band formed in 1989 and fronted by singer and songwriter David Scott. They released the EPs Sacred and Hurt in 1991. Their debut album Za Za's Garden followed in 1993. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, they released several albums, including The Strange Underworld of the Tall Poppies in 1997, The Young Picnickers in 1999, Across the Milky Way in 2001, and Sky Meadows in 2003. Their album Up with the Larks was recognized as one of the top albums of the year by the Sunday Mail in 2007. They released the single "The Umbrellas of Shibuya" in 2007. Their album Open Up Your Colouring Book received comparisons to the music of Paul Simon and the Beach Boys in 2014. They released the albums Love and Other Hopeless Things in 2019 and Making Tapes for Girls in 2024. Their lineup included drummer Jim Gash, bassist Dee Bahl, Brian McAlpine, Mil Stricevic, and Duglas T. Stewart.
