Matthias Nürnberger, known professionally as Matze Rossi, was born on March 17, 1977, in Schweinfurt, Germany. He gained initial recognition as the guitarist and singer of the punk-rock band Tagtraum. Rossi began performing solo concerts from 2003 onwards, releasing his first solo album, Solo(w) boy, So-Low, in 2004. After Tagtraum disbanded in 2006, he continued his solo career with albums like Und wann kommst du aus deinem Versteck…? and …und wie geht es deinen Dämonen?. Rossi formed the backing band Gaston to support these releases, which featured unconventional instruments. He released several online EPs between 2010 and 2011, including Vier Geschichten von Geistern, Mädchen, Elefanten und Schildkröten. In 2014, he self-produced the album Und jetzt Licht, bitte on his own label Dancing In The Dark Records. Rossi continued to perform extensively in 2014 and 2015, culminating in the release of Ich fange Feuer in 2016.
