Tetsuya Shibata is a Japanese video game music composer and sound director born on October 24, 1973 in Osaka. Shibata achieved professional recognition for a musical career that began after he studied the piano as a child and learned to play the guitar, bass, and drums during his secondary education. He achieved professional recognition for receiving a degree in law from Kansai University in 1996. His musical career began after he joined the arcade development department of the company Capcom in 1997. Shibata achieved professional recognition for composing the musical scores for the Darkstalkers series and the Power Stone series. His recording career included composing soundtracks for the Monster Hunter series and the Devil May Cry series. Shibata achieved professional recognition for the song "Out of Darkness" (2008) from the game Devil May Cry 4 being nominated for an award by the Game Audio Network Guild.
