Amarcord is a Leipzig ensemble founded in 1992 by six vocalists associated with the St. Thomas Choir. After its first private performance that year, the group adopted the name Amarcord in 1993 and soon established an international reputation for a cappella singing. Its repertoire spans medieval music, Renaissance madrigals and masses, Romantic and 20th-century works, folk songs, and arrangements of rock, pop, soul, and jazz. The ensemble has toured more than 50 countries and, in 1997, initiated Leipzig’s International Festival for Vocal Music “a cappella” concert series. Amarcord has received numerous honors, including multiple Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards, two ECHO Klassik awards, and an Opus Klassik award in 2019.
