ASTR, formed in 2013, is the solo project of American electronic R&B vocalist Zoe Silverman, originally formed as a duo with producer Adam Pallin. They met at a yoga class and initially kept their identities mysterious, releasing their debut single "Operate" (2013) through Tommy Boy Records. Their breakthrough came with a cover of Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home", which gained traction on Hype Machine. ASTR released the debut EP Varsity (2014), which was later named the number 20 best album of 2014 by Spin. The group performed at SXSW and CMJ Music Marathon, and signed with Neon Gold Records for the EP release. They released the second EP Homecoming (2015). Notable collaborations include a remix of Charli XCX's "Boom Clap" and a standalone single featuring Mick Jenkins titled "It's Over". ASTR also performed at Governors Ball in 2015.
