Kathryn Mellander, known professionally as Kat Frankie, was born on July 8, 1978, in Sydney, Australia. She is a singer-songwriter and guitarist who taught herself to sing and play guitar from the age of 17. Frankie began performing solo in June 2002 and independently released her debut EP, Outside. Now., in 2003. In December 2004, she relocated to Berlin. Frankie's debut studio album, Pocketknife, was released in 2007 via Gazelle/Vitamin Records. Her second and third albums, The Dance of a Stranger Heart and Please Don't Give Me What I Want, were issued in 2010 and 2012, respectively. In 2018, she released her fourth solo album, Bad Behaviour, through Grönland Records. Frankie collaborated with Olli Schulz for his third solo album, Feelings aus der Asche (2015).
