Dee Carstensen, born February 18, 1956 in Maryland, is an American contemporary folk and new age singer-songwriter who is best known for her harp playing. She began playing piano at age five and later took up stringed instruments, including the harp. Beloved One, Carstensen's debut album was released in 1993, produced by Bob Marlette with guitar work by Mark Knopfler. Her second album, Regarding the Soul, followed in 1995, featuring her harp playing alongside her singing and songwriting. In 1997, she released The Map. Carstensen also recorded a children's album, Can You Hear Lullaby, in 2001. Her solo album Patch of Blue was released in 2005, featuring original compositions.
