Child’s Play, an American rock band from Baltimore, Maryland, was formed in 1983 by vocalist Larry Hinshaw, guitarist Brian Jack, bassist Phil Wiser, guitarist Jimmy Schaefer, and drummer Chad Channing. The band’s first release, the Ruff House EP in 1986, marked their entry into the regional rock scene. After lineup changes, Child’s Play signed with Chrysalis Records in 1989; their debut album Rat Race, produced by Howard Benson, followed in 1990, and was followed by a U.S. tour co‑headlining with Cold Sweat. In 1993, the group issued Long Way, their final studio album, before disbanding in the mid‑1990s. The band has reunited periodically since 2003.
