Maxine Weldon, born in Holdenville, Oklahoma, is an American soul and jazz singer. She grew up in Bakersfield, California, and began performing professionally in Honolulu before touring through Asia. Returning to the United States in 1965, she gained recognition in Los Angeles through television appearances. Weldon's album, Chilly Wind, was released in 1971 under Mainstream Records, followed by Right On. Her breakthrough came with Some Singin' (1974), which reached number 48 on the Billboard R&B Albums Chart. She continued to perform regularly throughout the 1980s and 1990s, participating in notable productions such as the Cotton Club Revue and the Broadway show Black and Blue. In 1999, Weldon was inducted into the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame.
