Banda Bassotti is an Italian ska punk ensemble from Rome established in 1987. The group originated from social initiatives started in 1981 at construction sites in Montespaccato. The name derived from the Italian version of the characters the Beagle Boys. Their recording career began with the debut studio recording Figli della stessa rabbia (1992) released on the label Gridalo Forte Records. Banda Bassotti reached wider visibility through collaborations with the Basque ensemble Negu Gorriak and undertook a tour in El Salvador in 1994. The ensemble released the studio recording Avanzo de cantiere (1995) which was recorded in the Basque Country. They became inactive in 1996 due to financial difficulties and the members' employment in construction. The ensemble resumed activity in 2001 for a benefit concert and introduced a new wind section. Their discography included the studio recording Así es mi vida (2003) and the studio recording Viento, lucha y sol (2008). Banda Bassotti released the studio recording Avanti uniti (2021). Vocalist Angelo Conti died on December 11, 2018.
