Emanuel, an American post-hardcore band from Louisville, Kentucky, was formed in 1998 under the name Emanuel Nice by high school students Matt Breen, Bryan Whiteman, Anthony Brock, and Mat Barber. The group initially released four self-produced records before signing with Vagrant Records in 2004 and changing their name to Emanuel. Their debut album, Soundtrack to a Headrush, was released in 2005, followed by Black Earth Tiger in 2007. The band's sound evolved from poppy indie to darker, more mature emo genres, after which they toured with bands such as Thirty Seconds to Mars and From Autumn To Ashes. Despite facing financial issues and lack of promotion, Emanuel continued to write new material post-Black Earth Tiger. However, the band has been inactive and their website has been shut down.
