Francesco Cafiso, born on May 24, 1989 in Sicily, Italy, is a jazz alto saxophonist. He began his musical journey at a young age, playing duets with pianist Franco D'Andrea at the 2002 Umbria Jazz Festival and touring Europe with trumpeter Wynton Marsalis at just 14 years old. Cafiso made his U.S. debut in 2004 and released his first album, A Tribute to Charlie Parker, the following year. In 2006, he recorded New York Lullaby for Venus Records, followed by Portrait in Black and White and Seven Steps to Heaven. At age 19, he released Angelica through CAM Jazz. His album Moody'n, released by Verve Records in 2011, showcased his bebop skills. After a three-year hiatus, Cafiso returned with the three-CD set 3, which blended Sicilian music with jazz sensibilities.
