Dead Artist Syndrome was an American Christian rock and gothic rock band from Orange County, California, established in 1989. The ensemble was founded by singer-songwriter and ordained minister Brian Healy, who was professionally recognized as a pioneer of the Christian gothic rock genre. Their recording career began with the debut studio recording Prints of Darkness (1990), which Healy released independently as a solo project. The ensemble reached professional recognition after the label Blonde Vinyl Records reissued the debut recording in 1991. Dead Artist Syndrome subsequently released the studio recordings Devils, Angels & Saints (1992) and Happy Hour (1995). After a period of inactivity starting in 1995, the ensemble resumed activity in 2001 and released the studio recording Jesus Wants You to Buy This Record. Their discography included the studio recordings Saving Grace (2003) and Kissing Strangers (2015). In 2006, the ensemble reached professional recognition after being named the outstanding Orange County band by the publication Rock City News. Healy reached professional recognition in 2008 after receiving the best disc jockey award from the same publication. Healy died of a brain hemorrhage on January 12, 2020, at 60 years of age.
