Knot Feeder was an American math rock group formed in 2006 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, comprising guitarist Mike Banfield, bassist Andy Curl, guitarist Andrew Grossmann, and drummer Rob Spagiare. The band emerged after Mike Banfield left Don Caballero in 1999 and later met Rob Spagiare through the Pittsburgh post‑hardcore scene; they recruited Andrew Grossmann and Andy Curl to complete the lineup. Their debut album, Light Flares, was recorded with producer J. Robbins and released in 2009. The release received critical attention within the math rock community for its complex rhythms and melodic interplay, though it did not chart commercially. Knot Feeder disbanded in 2011.
