Sacred Reich, an American thrash metal band from Phoenix, Arizona, was formed in 1985 by bassist and vocalist Phil Rind, guitarists Jeff Martinek and Jason Rainey, and drummer Greg Hall. The group's breakthrough came with their demo Draining You of Life in 1986, which gained national attention. Their first album, Ignorance, was released in 1987 under Metal Blade Records. In 1991, Sacred Reich signed with Hollywood Records and released The American Way. The band's lineup evolved over the years, including notable members like Dave McClain on drums from 1991 to 1997 and again from 2019 onwards. They released several albums, including Independent (1993) and Heal (1996), before disbanding in 2000. Sacred Reich reunited in 2006 and continued touring and releasing music, notably the album Awakening in 2019. Tragically, guitarist Jason Rainey passed away on March 16, 2020, following a heart attack.
