Cymbals Eat Guitars war eine amerikanische Indie-Rock-Band aus Staten Island, New York. Sie wurde 2007 von dem Gitarristen Joseph D'Agostino und dem Schlagzeuger Matthew Miller gegründet und bestand zunächst aus Neil Berenholz am Bass, Matt Cohen an der Gitarre und Daniel Baer an den Keyboards. Ihr Debütalbum Why There Are Mountains (2009) erlangte große Aufmerksamkeit, als es in die Liste der besten neuen Musik von Pitchfork aufgenommen wurde und eine Bewertung von 8,3/10 erhielt. Sie tourten ausgiebig, spielten im Vorprogramm von Bands wie The Flaming Lips und traten bei Festivals wie dem College Music Journal und dem Pitchfork Music Festival auf. Im Jahr 2011 veröffentlichten sie ihr zweites Album, Lenses Alien (2011), bei Barsuk Records. Nach Besetzungswechseln und der Veröffentlichung von LOSE (2014) und Pretty Years (2016) löste sich Cymbals Eat Guitars Ende 2017 auf.
