Jacques Pelzer, born on June 24, 1924, in Liège, Belgium, was a Belgian jazz alto and soprano saxophonist and flautist. He pursued a parallel career as a pharmacist and musician. His first significant appearance came in 1947 with Bobby Jaspar’s Bob Shots, where he performed alongside René Thomas. Over the following decades, he recorded with Belgian artists Toots Thielemans and Francy Boland, and with American musicians Dexter Gordon, Stan Getz, and Chet Baker on numerous recordings and tours. In 1993, he released the album Salute to the Band Box on Igloo Records, marking the culmination of his career. He died in Liège on August 6, 1994, leaving a legacy honored by a public monument.
