Mohsen Namjoo is an Iranian singer-songwriter, composer, and musician born on March 4, 1976, in Torbat-e Jam, Razavi Khorasan, Iran. Namjoo began learning classical Persian music at age 12 and was influenced by Western musicians like Jim Morrison and Eric Clapton. In late 1997 and early 1998, Namjoo held his first two concerts, featuring a modern combination of Iranian poetry and music. His debut album Toranj was released in September 2007, containing traditional folk songs with poems from Hafez, Rumi, Baba Taher, and Attar. This album led to his exile in 2008 due to its controversial content. In 2010, Namjoo embarked on the "A Minor" tour, performing globally, including at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. He released his first English song "Such Strange Times" in June 2010. Notable albums include Damavand (2005), Gis (2006), Jabr-e Joghrafiyaei (2008), Oy (2009), the live albums Alaki (2011) and 13/8 (2012), and Oula (2024).
