Mirror is a multimedia project created in 2003 by Canadian singer-songwriter Thomas Anselmi, formerly of Copyright and Slow. Based in Los Angeles and Vancouver, the project marked a departure from Anselmi’s earlier punk and alternative rock work, incorporating semi-orchestral and cinematic elements influenced by David Lynch film soundtracks, pop music, and German Schlager. The project’s self-titled album was released in 2009 and produced by Vincent Jones. Its collaborators included Depeche Mode vocalist Dave Gahan, who provided vocals for the lead track “Nostalgia,” along with Laure-Elaine, Frances Lawson, Joe Dallesandro, Ronan Boyle, Phil Western, Mike Garson, Knox Chandler, Haig Armen, and Sean Starke. The project also incorporated visual works, including the “Nostalgia” video, filmed in Poland and the Czech Republic and directed by Starke, and “Greetings from Nowhere,” filmed at California’s Salton Sea and directed by Anselmi and Starke.
