The music duo Nickerbocker & Biene was formed in Vienna in 1982. The Austrian pop and Schlager formation consists of the singer and producer Nikolaus Kalita and the singer Sabine Kopera. Nikolaus Kalita was born in Vienna on September 11, 1943. Sabine Kopera was born on July 21, 1960 in Vienna. The duo moves stylistically between Neue Deutsche Welle, pop and Austropop. In 1982, Nikolaus Kalita and Sabine Kopera met while recording for a detergent advertisement. In the same year, they released the single "Hallo Klaus (i wü nur zruck)". The song became their biggest success. In Austria, the song reached number 1 in the charts. In Germany, the single climbed to number 6 and stayed there for more than half a year. The song has a lasting impact on the short-lived project. The album Hallo Klaus (I wü zruck zu Dir) is released in 1983. Further singles followed, including "Hokuspokus" (1983). However, the big breakthrough was not repeated. Nikolaus Kalita later worked increasingly as a composer, lyricist and producer. Sabine Kopera also appears as an actress and musical performer. Nickerbocker & Biene's repertoire includes German-language pop and Schlager with Viennese dialect. The duo's NDW classics are the most popular.
