Saccharine Trust are an American punk rock band from Los Angeles formed in 1980 by vocalist Jack Brewer and guitarist Joe Baiza. The group's name is derived from a line in the David Bowie song “The Bewlay Brothers” (1971). They performed their first concert in 1980 alongside the Minutemen. They released the debut extended play Paganicons (1981) through the label SST Records. Their discography includes the studio albums Surviving You, Always (1984) and We Became Snakes (1986), as well as the live recording Worldbroken (1985). The ensemble disbanded in 1986 but resumed activity in 1996. Their recording career includes the studio album The Great One Is Dead (2001). Kurt Cobain cited Paganicons as one of his favorite albums. Longtime bassist Chris Stein died in 2018.
