Slapshot is an American hardcore punk band formed in 1985 in Boston, Massachusetts. Their founding members included Steve Risteen, Mark McKay, and lead vocalist Jack Kelly. Their debut recording, Back on the Map (1986), was released through Taang! Records. Their discography includes Step On It (1988), Sudden Death Overtime (1990), and the industrial-influenced EP Blast Furnace (1993). In 1995, they released the album 16 Valve Hate, featuring a cover of the song “Big Mouth Strikes Again”. Their recordings include Greatest Hits, Slashes and Crosschecks (2001), Digital Warfare (2003), and Make America Hate Again (2018). The band utilizes hockey-themed imagery and announced their retirement for 2025.
