Peter Livingston, known professionally as Loefah, was born on September 8, 1980. He is a DJ and electronic music artist who played a pivotal role in the development of dubstep. Loefah began his career collaborating with Digital Mystikz on DMZ nights in Brixton and contributed to Mary Anne Hobbs' Dubstep Warz radio show, which helped popularize the genre. His early releases included singles such as "Dubsession" (2004) and "Jungle Infiltrator" (2004). Loefah's distinctive style featured dark, minimal compositions with powerful basslines and menacing vocal samples. He released his first album, Live at Transmission Leeds Feb 2006, in 2006, followed by "System/Molten" later that year. Around 2007, Loefah began to distance himself from dubstep. In 2009, he founded the record label Swamp 81, initially focused on dubstep but later expanded to a broader spectrum of bass music.
