Kataplexia, a brutal death metal group from Helsinki, Finland, was founded in 2003 by Rodrigo Artiga. The band's debut album Morgue’s Reality was released in 2003, featuring Artiga as the sole musician. This was followed by Catastrophic Scenes in 2005 and Supreme Authority in 2008. The group underwent several lineup changes, eventually including session drummer Timo Häkkinen alongside three original members. In 2008, Kataplexia performed at the Death Feast Open Air festival. After releasing the EP Genetic Intervention in 2014, the band compiled their first three albums into a box set titled Scenes of Supreme Reality, released in 2017. Kataplexia's performances extended beyond Finland to Sweden, Germany, and Spain. Their music is characterized by a blend of contemporary grindcore and death metal vocals, combined with old-school death metal elements.
