Allan Botschinsky, born on March 29, 1940, in Copenhagen, Denmark, was a Danish jazz trumpeter and flugelhornist. He began playing the trumpet at age 11 and started a professional career with Ib Glindemann's big band in 1956. Botschinsky furthered his education at the Manhattan School of Music in New York in 1963 and joined the Danish Radio Big Band in 1964. He acted as a conductor for the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix and all Danish entries for the Eurovision Song Contest from 1979 to 1983. Botschinsky received the Danish Jazz Musician of the Year award in 1963 and the Ben Webster Prize in 1984. Notable album releases included First Brass (1986), Duologue (1987), and Last Summer (1991). Botschinsky died from COVID-19 on November 26, 2020.
