Fredrik Lundin, born on April 7, 1963, is a Danish tenor saxophonist who emerged on the Copenhagen jazz scene in the early 1980s. Raised in Helsingør, he first studied flute before forming the Fredrik Lundin Quartet in 1981. He gained national recognition after receiving the JASA Prize in 1986. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with leading Scandinavian jazz musicians and explored projects that blend jazz, classical music, electronics, and theater. In 2001, he founded Fredrik Lundin Overdrive, whose album Choose Your Boots was named Danish Jazz Release of the Year in 2002. In 2003, during the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Fredrik Lundin introduced the Nordic band Basalt, featuring Krister Jonsson on guitar, Lars Andreas Haug on tuba, Anders Jormin on bass, and Audun Kleive on drums. Although the group performed together only once, the concert was recorded and released as a live album.
