The Smugglers, a Canadian indie rock band from Vancouver, British Columbia, formed in 1988 while members were students at Hillside Secondary School. They began by playing covers at local events before releasing their first EP Up and Down in 1990. The band released material on various labels including Nardwuar Records and Lookout. Their most successful album was Selling the Sizzle! (1996), produced by Mass Giorgini. In 1998, they celebrated their 10th anniversary with the live album Growing Up Smuggler. They embarked on extensive tours across North America, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. In 2004, they released the album Mutiny in Stereo before going into hiatus. The band reformed for reunion shows from 2017 to 2019.
