Sharon Farber, born in Bat Yam, Israel, is an Israeli composer. She began as a classical pianist at seven and studied at Thelma‑Yelin High School for the Arts. After serving in the Israel Defense Forces, she moved to Boston in 1994 on a Berklee scholarship, winning first prize with her string quartet and graduating summa cum laude in 1997 in classical composition and film scoring. She relocated to Los Angeles, orchestrating for Shirley Walker and scoring for NBC, Showtime, and WB series such as Starting Over and Passions. In 1998, she received a Telly Award for California 2000, and in 2008, her score for When Nietzsche Wept was released. Her concert works, including The Third Mother/Mothers’ Lament and Translucent Rocks, earned her the First Prize in the Cincinnati Camerata Competition (2007) and a Composer in Residence role at the Beverly Hills International Music Festival (2009).
