Karin Bloemen, born on June 28, 1960, in the Netherlands, is a Dutch singer and actress. She began her career as a singer and cabaret artist in 1983, quickly gaining recognition for her striking appearance and lively performances. Her breakthrough came with the anti-apartheid song "Zuid-Afrika", written by Jeroen van Merwijk, which she performed in front of Nelson Mandela in 1994. Bloemen's debut album Karin in Concert was released in 1993, followed by La Bloemen in 1994 and Kameleon in 1998. Throughout her career, she has been active in various theatre shows and concerts, including Bosje Bloemen, Karin in Concert, and La Bloemen's Licht-In-Donkere-Dagen Kerst-Bal. She won the Pisuisse Prize in 1983 and the Pall Mall Export prize in 1984. In April 2011, she became an Officer in the Order of Oranje-Nassau.
