Dylan Nathan, known professionally by his recording name Jega, is a British electronic music artist from Manchester. He studied architecture in London from 1991 to 1994 alongside musician Mike Paradinas on the same campus as Aphex Twin. Nathan's recording career began with his debut extended play SKA006 (1996) released through Skam Records, followed by SKA009 (1997). In 1997, he performed on tour as a support act for electronic music duo Autechre. Jega subsequently signed with Paradinas's label Planet Mu, releasing extended play Type Xer0 (1998) and his debut studio recording Spectrum (1998), which served as the inaugural release for the label. The album combined breakbeat with intelligent dance music, and he followed with his second studio recording Geometry (2000), which focused on synthesis rather than samples. Both recordings were licensed to Matador Records for release in North America, leading to several promotional tours of the United States. Nathan reached wider recognition after songwriter Thom Yorke cited Jega as an influence on Radiohead's studio recording Kid A (2000). Although a leaked demo in 2004 delayed the project, Jega released double album Variance (2009) through Planet Mu, followed by studio recording 1995 (2016) through Skam Records.
