Antagony was formed in 1998 in California’s Bay Area by former members of Y.F.H. The band developed a distinctive sound combining elements of deathcore and metalcore with influences from grindcore, hardcore punk, death metal, and tribal-style percussion. The group released its debut EP Expect the Worst in 2000 and followed with the 2001 album See Through These Eyes, establishing a presence on the underground circuit and touring with acts such as Malevolent Creation and As I Lay Dying. After a period of inactivity, Antagony returned with Rebirth in 2005, then Days of Night in 2009, the latter featuring cellos and choirs and a more classical structure. The band disbanded in 2009, after which founding members Nick Vasallo and Ben Orum formed Oblivion. Antagony reformed in 2019, self-releasing the album Ashes.
