The Chocolate Watchband is an American garage rock ensemble from Los Altos established in 1965. The group consists of the musicians David Aguilar, Gary Andrijasevich, Tim Abbott, Alec Palao, and Derek See. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style characterized by garage rock, psychedelic rock, and proto-punk arrangements and for being compared to the ensemble the Rolling Stones. The ensemble was founded by the guitarist Ned Torney and the guitarist Mark Loomis. Their recording career began with the single "Sweet Young Thing" (1966) released on the label Tower Records. The Chocolate Watchband achieved professional recognition for the debut studio recording No Way Out (1967), which featured the single "Are You Gonna Be There at the Love-In" (1967). Their discography included the studio recording The Inner Mystique (1968), featuring the song "I'm Not Like Everybody Else", and the studio recording One Step Beyond (1969). The group became inactive in 1970 but resumed activity in 1999. They achieved professional recognition for performing on international tours and releasing the live recording At the Love-In Live! (2001). Their recording career included the studio recording This Is My Voice (2019). Loomis died on September 26, 2014.
