Barikad Crew, a Creole rap group based in Haiti, was founded in 2003 in Bas-Peu-de-Chose by Papa K-tafalk, Deja-Voo, and Kondagana. The trio focused on producing music that reflected the lifestyle of their neighborhood slums. The group gained significant recognition at the end of 2005 when they won third place at the popular TV's Christmas songs contest, Konkou Chante Nwel, on Telemax with the song "Nwel Pa'm". Their debut album, Goumen Pou Sa W Kwè, was released in 2007. Tragedy struck on June 15, 2008, when three members, K-tafalk, Deja-Voo, and Dade, died in a car accident en route to a concert. Despite this loss, the group continued with their second album, Jiskobou, released later that year, which was sung by Brital, Fantom, Bricks, Izolan, Young Cliff, Master Sun, Marco, Kondagana, featuring Last1 and Doc Filah.
