M. Woodroe is a moody alternative band who has quickly shot out of the local DIY scene in Brighton to gain a reputation as one of the city's exciting emerging acts. Led by intricate political and provocative lyrics and followed by a bed of raw angular guitar noise, the 4-piece's image, lyrics and sound are boundary-pushing contemplations of gender, sexuality and desire that are difficult to pin down to genre archetypes.
Recently signed to Venn Records, played by Dan Carter on BBC Radio 1, and gigged alongside mclusky and Prostitute, the quartet is developing their notoriety as an intense, refreshing, and powerful newcomer.
“PJ Harvey, Scout Niblett, even a brush of early Sonic Youth…post-Slint, post-My Bloody Valentine, post-everything…we were properly thrilled” Everett True (NME, Melody Maker, Vox)
