Smudge, an Australian rock and indie pop trio, was formed in 1991 in Sydney by Paul Duncan on bass guitar, Alison Galloway on drums, and Tom Morgan on guitar and vocals. Their first gig was at the Lansdowne Hotel to launch the EP Slice, to which Galloway and Morgan contributed the song "Tea, Toast and Turmoil." In 1992, Smudge released the EP Love Lust & Lemonjuice, which included the track "Divan". They released their debut album Manilow in 1994. Their subsequent albums include Hot Smoke And Sassafras (1994) and Real McCoy Wrong Sinatra (1998). The band went on hiatus in 1999 while Galloway travelled the world. She later joined Her Name in Lights but left before their first album was released. In 2004, Smudge reunited for performances in Sydney and Melbourne, and again in 2008 for the inaugural Sounds of Spring Festival in Brisbane.
