Dawn of Solace is a Finnish heavy metal side-project formed in 2005 by Tuomas Saukkonen, who is also known for his work with Before the Dawn and Wolfheart. The project began when Saukkonen had over 30 songs written during the creation of Before the Dawn's third album, The Ghost, leading him to start a solo venture. The project's debut album, The Darkness, was released in May 2006 under Dead Air Records, showcasing a melodic sound with strong gothic and doom metal influences. Issues with their initial label led to a hiatus until 2019 when they signed with Noble Demon and re-released The Darkness. In January 2020, Dawn of Solace released their second album, Waves, followed by Flames of Perdition in January 2022.
