Francis Décamps was born on May 17, 1952, in Héricourt (Haute-Saône), and is a French singer-songwriter. He is best known as a founding member of Ange, which he formed with his brother Christian Décamps in 1969. From 1970 to 1995, he served as the band's lead keyboardist and backing vocalist, composing much of its music while Christian handled the lyrics. During his tenure, Ange released several studio albums, including Caricatures (1972), Le Cimetière des arlequins (1973), Au-delà du délire (1974), Émile Jacotey (1975), Par les fils de Mandrin (1976), Guet-apens (1978), and Mémo (1994). He began his solo career in 1979 and released several albums, including Histoire de fou (1979), Vie en positif (1980), Francis Décamps revisite Caricatures (2012), The Gift (2018), and Bien au-delà du délire (2022), recorded with Pascal Gutman. He also founded Gens de la Lune in 2005, serving as its keyboardist and leader until the group ended in 2022. The band released four albums, including Gens de la Lune (2008), So play! (2011), Épitaphe (2014), and Pentacle of the Moon (2021). In 2023, he continued performing under Francis Décamps Délirium, with the live album … Aux Couches released that year.
