Ilúvatar is an American progressive rock band formed in 1992 in Baltimore, Maryland, by former members of the cover group Sojourn, which had started in 1983. The band's self-titled debut album, Ilúvatar (1993), co-written largely by original guitarist Tom Kraus, established its neo-prog sound. In 1995, the group released its second album, Children, on Kinesis Records, after bassist Mick Trimble was replaced by Dean Morekas. The 1997 compilation album, Sideshow, featured live tracks, alternate versions, and unreleased works, with drummer Rick Fleischmann performing on several tracks. Following a tour with drummer Allen Brunelle, Chris Mack joined on drums for the album A story two days wide (1999). After a 15-year hiatus, the band returned in 2014 with the release of the album From the silence on 10T Records.
