Johnny Richard Duncan, born on October 5, 1938, in Dublin, Texas, was a country music singer-songwriter. He began his career singing with his family's band. In April 1959, he auditioned for Norman Petty in Clovis, New Mexico, leading to a signing with Leader Records. After moving to Nashville, Duncan began recording for Columbia Records in the late 1960s. His breakthrough came in the mid-1970s with hits like "Thinkin' of a Rendezvous" (1976), "It Couldn't Have Been Any Better" (1977), and "She Can Put Her Shoes Under My Bed Anytime" (1978). He collaborated with Janie Fricke on successful duets. Duncan's career produced more than 30 chart singles. He died of a heart attack on August 14, 2006, at the age of 67.
