Hailing from NYC, Steven Wright-Mark is a solo artist in the truest sense, in that he writes, records, plays all instruments and produces everything on his own in the studio, and has numerous releases as a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and producer. Steven had also been playing with rising country artist Jessica Lynn and her band, on tour, in two nationwide PBS television concert specials, and in the studio.
Steven released his debut solo disc Pop Motel in 2007 on Not Lame Records, and the album's first single "Pawn Shop Crystal Ball" garnered both airplay and critical acclaim. Following that initial release, Steven began recording for Burning Sky Records, for whom he contributed tracks to their highly-respected line of tribute albums, including "I Don't Believe You" for Sensory Lullabies: The Ultimate Tribute to Jellyfish, and "Burn and Shine" for Beautiful Escape: The Songs of The Posies Revisited. The latter was produced by legendary indie rock producer and musician Don Fleming, who also produced The Posies' original version. DIY pioneer R. Stevie Moore contributed piano to the track as well.
In 2008 Steven released his follow-up disc Sideshow Freak, again to good reviews and fan reaction, with the track "Change" getting radio airplay. In 2009, he recorded a cover of Roxy Music's "Trash" (from their Manifesto album) for another Burning Sky Records project - Take Refuge in Pleasure: The Songs of Roxy Music Revisited. In 2010, Steven appeared on two more Burning Sky Releases, recording "It's So Dirty" and "Sheep" for tributes for Squeeze and Toy Love, respectively.
Steven's third solo release, My Plastic World (2012) has received the most enthusiastic critical reception to date, with his band "Steven Wright-Mark and The Plastic Fantastics" taking to stages for a growing number of fans.
Starting in 2014, much of Steven's focus had been on playing guitar and keyboards with the Jessica Lynn Band, and completed five national and international tours that included dates at some of country music's biggest festivals, sharing the stage with such artists as Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Hank Williams, Jr., Montgomery Gentry, and many more. Steven appears in Jessica's two PBS Television concert specials, the most recent being Jessica Lynn: Takin' Over, which aired nationwide in 2015.
In the summer of 2017, Steven once again joined Jessica and the band for another tour, this time in Europe and the U.K., playing everything from clubs to large festivals, including opening for ZZ Top. Steven did his final tour with Jessica and the band in January/February 2018 on the West Coast of the U.S.
In addition, Steven has recently started producing other artists in the studio, having completed production on two EPs for NYC-based Harsh Crowd. Their latest EP Better garnered press in The New York Times, NY Magazine, Noisey and more.
April 2020 marked the release of Steven's EP, "Wake Up," that included "Undergound," which made a number of "top songs of the year" lists for 2020. In late 2020, he released his cover of the classic "Eve of Destruction," written by P.F. Sloan and popularized by Barry McGuire in the 60's. His most recent single "Mind Blown Open," and is currently in the studio recording new music.
