Trail of Tears, a Norwegian goth metal band from Vennesla, was formed in 1994 under the name Natt. The group gained initial traction with their demo When Silence Cries, released in 1997 at the Jailhouse Studio in Denmark. This led to a contract with DSFA Records for two albums. Their debut album, Disclosure in Red, was released in 1998 and followed by extensive tours across Europe. The band's lineup underwent changes, notably the replacement of Helena Iren Michaelsen with Cathrine Paulsen before the release of their second album, Profoundemonium, in 2000. The band continued to evolve musically, releasing albums such as A New Dimension of Might (2002), Free Fall Into Fear (2005), Existentia (2007), and Oscillation (2013). In 2024, Trail of Tears signed with Greek label The Circle Music. Later that year, the band released the EP Winds of Disdain, featuring new material, followed in 2025 by a vinyl edition of their debut album Disclosure in Red.
